 In September, we will join with Pi Delta Phi, the French Honor Society at University of Tennessee, for two events:

Beyond the Capital - Please join Pi Delta Phi in welcoming State Senator Richard Briggs on Sept. 17, from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m., in the Haslam Business Building, room 103, as he discusses his experiences in the military, politics, and more, through the use of the French language.

The Benefits and Opportunities with French in the International Community - On September 26, from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. in the Haslam Business Building, room 103, Pi Delta Phi is pleased to welcome Donald Leblanc, delegate to The Québec Government Office in Atlanta to discuss the benefits of using the French language in the international community outside of France.

Notre prochaine réunion est une des plus attendues: le samedi 14 juillet, de 16 à 19h nous célébrerons la Fête Nationale. Nous proposons un buffet à la fortune du pot, en plein air, avec boissons et champagne offerts par l’AFK. Nous nous retrouverons chez Jim et Michele Valkenaar, 658 River Road, à Loudon; leur résidence est entièrement accessible aux personnes handicapées. Nous demandons à chaque membre d'apporter un hors d'oeuvre ou autre plat à partager.

Our next meeting is one of our most popular events: a celebration of Bastille Day, Saturday, July 14th, from 4 to 7 p.m. This will be a potluck outdoor reception, with champagne and beverages provided by the AFK. It will take place at the home of Jim and Michele Valkenaar, 658 River Road, in Loudon; their home is completely handicapped accessible. We ask each member to bring an appetizer or other dish to share.

Notre prochain rendez-vous aura lieu le samedi 23 juin au musée d’art de Knoxville, 1050 Worlds Fair Park Drive, Knoxville, TN 37916, de 14h à 15h. Nous aurons une visite guidée en français par Madame Saralee Peccolo-Taylor. La visite, gratuite, commencera à 14 heures précises et il est suggéré que nous arrivions un peu plus tôt : soyez dans le hall du musée à 13 h.45.

Our next event will be Saturday, June 23, at the Knoxville Museum of Art, 1050 Worlds Fair Park Drive, Knoxville, TN 37916, from 2 - 3 p.m. We will enjoy a tour led by French-speaking docent, Saralee Peccolo-Taylor. The tour, which is free, will begin promptly at 2 p.m., so the museum suggests that we be early; plan to be in the museum lobby at 1:45.

Cancellation of Picnic and Petanque

Bonsoir à tous,

Malheureusement, we are in the path of the weather demons again.  Forecasts vary, but West Knoxville received a fair amount of rain today, and percentages of forecasts for rain tomorrow vary for 40-80 percent, based on who  you ask. 

Therefore, we have decided to cancel our picnic and petanque tournament, scheduled for tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.

Notre prochain évènement sera la réception à l'Emporium Center, 100 South Gay Street, Knoxville, le vendredi 6 avril de 17H à 21H pour célébrer le dernier travail de l'artiste Mike Berry. Mike a récemment illustré le livre pour enfants "The Curious Adventures of Wickl-Wackl and his Friends” écrit par son amie Renée D'Élia Zunino. Des esquisses et dessins originels du livre seront également présentés.

Our next event will be the reception at the Emporium Center, 100 South Gay Street, Knoxville, Friday April 6, from 5:00-9:00 pm, to celebrate the New Works show of Knoxville artist Mike C Berry. Recently, he illustrated a children’s book, “The Curious Adventures of Wickl-Wackl and his Friends” written by his friend Renée D’Élia Zunino. Also on display will be some of the original panels used in the book.

Bonjour à tous: Feeling that discretion is the better part of valor, I am cancelling tonight's immersion meal at Kitchen 919. Weather predictions have severe weather rolling into the Tennessee valley starting at about 5 p.m and continuing for 4-6 hrs. Many of us come from long distances, and would be driving home in the dark, and there could be hail, debris in the streets or other hazardous obstacles. We will try to reschedule here in the near future.

On va se rassembler dans le parking, près du lac. Après la randonnée (environ une heure) nous allons grignoter et socialiser – apportez un plat simple à partager. We will meet in the parking lot near the lake. After the hike (about an hr), we will snack and socialize – bring a simple dish to share.
